SAMBA, mdk9.1 & xp

Calum:
ok, as far as i know there is no firewall (since i am behind a firewall/router) however it is default mandrake 9.1 so it is possible it has set up a firewall without telling me at install time. how can i check this?

yes, it is //LAPTOP/C which seemed to be the default, perhaps this is something to do with me using the mandrake package of samba rather than a default install of it. it works fine, i can see the windows machine (LAPTOP) fine from the mandrake machine (claudia) it's just the other way round i am having issues. in fact have a look at http://calumnine.cjb.net/winxp2004.jpg which i mentioned above, i think LAPTOP can see claudia, but can't get any of the files. now what else... ah yes, webmin, how do i use it? i thought it was for remote administration, should i install it locally on claudia and use it to configure samba on claudia?

thanks again!

Kintaro:
Dont let your firewall block 135 and 137 (i think).

Use nmap to see if there blocked or somthing.

xyle_one:
install webmin on you linux box. You will be able to access it from any where on your localnetwork.
