If you guys are interested in experimenting with something new, and have about $200 to spare, you could always look into creating your own radio station. Granted, I haven't looked into this since the early-mid 90s, you can easily buy FM or AM transmitter kits assembled or preassembled and broadcast right out of your house.
The caveat is (at least in the US) you can only legally broadcast with a few watts of power. Of course, if you're using AM you can reach a significant distance with only a few watts. Back in the day I used to study alt.radio.pirate pretty thoroughly, so that might be a good place to start.
Yeah you won't reach as many people as just using a shoutcast stream, but you'll learn something about electronics -- especially if you build the kit yourself. Just make sure you check up on all the legalities of things before you start playing.
