New Windows worm hits the world
« on: 20 January 2004, 18:08 »
quote:
A new Internet worm that spread by e-mail through Asia, Australia and Europe began appearing in U.S. in-boxes yesterday, and experts warned it could spread as people go back to work after the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.  The worm could be the precursor to more evolved versions that could wreak havoc with small businesses and home Internet users, computer security experts said.  Bagle has spread to computers in more than 100 countries, according to MessageLabs, an e-mail security company in New York City.

Wow, I found Disinfectant on one of my old Macs. And to think that at one time I thought I needed it . . .

Linux and Mac can get viruses.. it's just that with Linux, any time you think you can get a virus you can change the source code and make yourself immune; with Mac you normally aren't victim to common viruses usually intended for Windows.

Only if you're an idiot. Don't open attachments from people you don't know. Easy as pie.

in my inbox it just gets chucked into the 'unsolicited mail' folder, where i check once every dozen days or so for useful mail that might've gotten trapped in there...

i heard that there're now viruses that don't even require u to open the attachment... they just run...
Try not!
Do, or do not.
There is no try.
