Bill G tries to push around countries
« on: 16 February 2005, 08:12 »
Slashdot Article

According to the story, Bill Gates visited the Danish prime minister and threatened to move 800 jobs from Denmark to the United States unless Denmark backed this insane software patents push.  According to the story, Bill Gates says that he will move the jobs to America which can protect his IP if he can't have patents in Europe.

As the Slashdot readers astutely said, this is crap.  You can develop software in Denmark and apply for a US patent.   Who the *$^# does Bill Gates think he is?

This article really touches on what direction people like us should be going in campaigning against MS.  We sit and talk about security, functionality, and other nerd-related issues, but Microsoft's most disturbing problem is their desire to lock down free computing, and eventually the Internet itself.

The only way to stop this from happening is to quit using their products, and discourage your friends from doing so as well.
