Backup your important files first. You wouldn't want to lose them because of an OS switch. Better yet, create a separate partition for them.

The sad part of this, that your best option for a seperate data partition is FAT32, if you're planning to dual boot Linux and Windows.
By Microsoft not supporting Ext3, they are making Windows favourable in this case.

Yeah, and I'm a member of the Microsoft Syternals forums, but I do not force open source down people's throats. I only use it for troubleshooting help.

You can get freware ext3 drivers for Windows and full read/write support under Linux with NTFS-3G.
