Alternatives to Microsoft Money
Calum:
it's gnu software and so i suppose it can be installed on any system that has a compiler. i imagine that since it has a GUI, you would need to be running X, and windows doesn't by default (nor do i know if it can)
but you asked what the alternatives were, and i think from what little i know that that would be right up there as one of the best of them, so i mentioned it.
why must you use windows? i think you're limiting your choices by saying the replacement software has to run on windows.

There is a special X.org XServer that is distributed as part of Cygwin.
I've been using it for a couple of weeks now.
MrX:
you actually need IE to install ZoneAlarm. it installed a 98micro installation (and yes, litePC uninstalls IE completely) and i figured out the error that i was getting and i installed IE and then zonealarm install. however, you do not need IE to use ZoneAlarm. only to install it.

Why hasn't anybody mentioned Quicken, by Intuit, which is perfect for this role, and better than MS Money.
