Swedish anti-piracy organization sued

Here in Sweden we have a law called PUL which stands for Personal Information Act when translated into english. It means that you cannot publish information about a certain individual online without his or her permission. This is the law which many private citizens and company owners rely on now when the swedish Antipiratbyr

In the Netherlands, there are rumours that the orginasations BIG and Brein are keeping logs of IP addresses.

But... ISP's rarely give out personal information (except for @Home and CompuServe/AOL), and only uploaders can be sued if they somehow found out who those people where.

it's a surprise to me that there are still countries where the wholesale collecting of personal information is still illegal!

Canada has a similar newish law about personal information that you don't have to give out now that the net is popular and what not. also big ISPs like shaw (is use this) are very stingent on not revealing who the person is behing the IP. but with a quick scan on my ip, you can tell i am from abbotsford, bc. too bad good proxies are hard to find.

my upcoming CD album has several traditional swedish tunes on it, as it happens.

but that has nothing do do with the PUL.
