Windows is eyeing my Linux partitions greedily

(1/2) > >>

SAJChurchey:
When I installed RH 8.0 on my system it said that the partition table on my second HD was inconsistent.  This has happened b4, and it's only a matter of time until Windows "fixes" it, getting rid of the Linux partition on that drive. Any way i can rebuild the partition table b4 this happens.

Nobber:
What does the partition table look like on your disk? I don't know what RH8.0 uses for partitioning, but if it's cfdisk, I'd suggest using something else. cfdisk can be a bit naff, and will often complain about an invalid partition table on a disk that fdisk, for example, would have no problems with at all.

xyle_one:
um... get rid of windows. that would fix it.

SAJChurchey:
Yeah,

Windows was being a petulant little child and crashed every 15-20 min.  That's pretty bad, even for Win2k Adv. Server.  So, I wiped my HD clean and repartitioned it.  Hopefully it will all work now.

lemme guess: you're going to put win2k a/s back on it?  do you know what the base problem is? or is this a fairly new problem that sprang up on this machine (which i will assume has had win2k a/s running fine on it for a while now...)?

if it's a new machine, you might want to check the HCL from microslut.  ditto if you added any new hardware.  maybe it was a particular app that triggered the crashes?  or was it simply the addition of a new partion (ala a resizing kit)?
