The meaning of my username "BobTheHob":
It is well known that "Bob" is a nickname for robert in modern times, a lesser known nickname for robert is that of "Hob". Hob is a nickname for robert from the "Middle English" dialect. This is the version of english spoken and written around the late middle ages. Thus my username can be percieved like "RobertTheRobert" which is redundant. As I always like to say "Simplicity in redundancy, and elegance in simplicity".

So, you're basically flaming in the microsoft.pbulic.windowsxp.general ... that's nice and mature of you. Even referring to "not having sources", could you really fix your problems if you had access to the sources?

PS. Windows 2000 kernel sources leaked earlier to the internet, I think everyone and their dog has a copy...

Update: I just converted a Windows XP user to Ubuntu linux in microsofts own forums, so what if he won't be able to figure out how to use ubuntu, I'm still laughing my ass off http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroups/reader.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsxp.general&lang=en&cr=US

I actaully am a very accomplished programer in C, C++, C#, and PHP. the only problem is i hate programing, the only reason i took the classes were to be that much better in my networking career, well that, and some of those languages were required for my CNT degree

In english: You're a newbie and you don't even have the skill to recognize what you could do and what you couldn't. If you actually had the skills it takes to debug a system as large as Windows, you'd be doing it already - with or without sources. Also, if you really wanted the sources, you could get windows 2000 sources (including a lot of the userland) from pretty much any p2p network.

Don't make me laugh, while I do have the skill, I'm smart enough to not waste my time with windoze, I fucking hate windoze. The comment i made in that post was just a witty retort. Apparently your too much a a noob to realize that. The fact that you love windows so fucking much makes me wonder wtf you are really doing here. In the chemistry world, you would be referred to as "enviromental contamination". I think you need to be deloused, disinfected, and teabagged. Only then would you're opinon be remotely useful in a realistic, non-fantasy world.

edit: a nice wash from a safety shower refilled with H^2SO^4 would probably clean you up nicely, and on the plus side I wouldent have to listen to your windows raves anymore

Well, I don't mean to start a flamewar here, but programming is not something you learn by taking a few classes. You might learn the basics in a year or two, but that doesn't get you very far.

Regarding "witty retorts", what are you referring to, exactly? You can't just rant about stuff and then clear everything you said with "the stuff you didn't get was just me being witty". You're just trying to make this even more personal than it is already, by trying to categorize me as either someone who agrees, or someone who doesn't get it. You don't seem to have a category for people who disagree, so you're throwing all of those into "doesn't get it" category.

Either way, you probably do have better things to do than debug windows. Then again, debugging might not be necessary if your problems stem from merely not understanding something. You never told any of your problems with windows, and as of such I won't have much to discuss objectively. The way you represent your programming skills, however, suggest that you'd like to have the sources available so that someone else could fix them, not you.

I have been using computers for a very very long time, most of that time i have known C quite well, having taught myself, later C++, those happen to have been required courses for my CNT degree, so I had to take them, I took C# and PHP scripting classes as my choice, I would have just taught myself if i wasen't required to take some course or another anyway. In fact, I didn't even learn much from any of the classes. I have since taught myself more of the latter languages. I consider programming a good skill to have, not to excersise for the hell of it. I only taught myself C and C++ to make software that I absolutly needed. I dont enjoy programming, I would much rather be off overseeing an network somewhere. I enjoy networking, which is why i chose it as my career. I don't even like any *nix enough to contribute source code, so why the fuck would I try to improve windows which I don't even use anymore, ever, for any reason. I would be happy to see all MS source be released, but that would be mostly so that all the bugs would be worked out so i don't have to deal with occasional extreme network congestion due to the bug laden windoze.

Alright muzzy, now go take your Sulfuric Acid shower that I prescribed so I don't have to see your posts anymore. You never make any fucking sense whatsoever.

does this mean you are now a fully qualified CNT? :-D :-D :-D

do you have to do more exams to be a total CNT? or perhaps a complete CNT?

lol, they were courses that I was required to take for my CNT (Computer Networking Technology) degree, I have about 12 weeks left until I graduate.

lmao, I actually had a rather nice job waiting for me at an ISP. I had called awhile back them and told them to hire someone else. I decided awhile back that I would never use windoze again, and they use hex-p pro workstations. So that was out of the question.

@muzzy: don't even think about responding saying that I can't handle windoze and its uber power. We all know you're in denial, just stfu already.

::Bob bursts into meaningless crappy song::
ISP's hire CNT's cuz CNT's help ISP's Bump their booties. So much in fact that every morning they eat their wooties. note: this is a mootie song :song ends:

edit: @Refalm: CNT= "Computer Networking Technology" basically a degree meaning you can become a network admin and related things
