So true. A friend of mine who used to own a wireless ISP once said "I've hired and fired many MCSEs". I've worked with quite a few MSCE's in my career.
However, if everyone ran [
insert non microosft OS here], then people that only know Microsoft might be out of a job, but the need for IT support wouldn't go away.
As someone who works in an IT shop with tons of WIndows machines, I would estimate that 98% of our calls are not realated to software malfunctioning. The prevailing issues are users not knowing what theya re doing, and hardware failures. These issues will continue to happen regardless of platform.
