Mixed emotions.  I don't know how to feel.  I see no incentive to go Intel -- at all.

I would be more than willing to bet that they are doing it to gain x86 marketshare from right out under Microsofts feet. I think some of you may have missed the fact that it is going to run on the same PC's as longhorn. You won't even have to buy an Macintosh anymore. If there is EVER a defining moment in history where you can be sure Microsoft is plummiting to second widest userbase, the time is now. Most inexperinced computer users dream of owning an easy to use apple, now it is theres for the taking. Apple, if you are reading this, you may now take down Microsoft once and for all, start giving the cds out free. This is your chance to change the world apple, go for it!!
The meaning of my username "BobTheHob":
It is well known that "Bob" is a nickname for robert in modern times, a lesser known nickname for robert is that of "Hob". Hob is a nickname for robert from the "Middle English" dialect. This is the version of english spoken and written around the late middle ages. Thus my username can be percieved like "RobertTheRobert" which is redundant. As I always like to say "Simplicity in redundancy, and elegance in simplicity".

Eh, OS X is not going to run on ordinary x86 hardware.  Why do you think they're sending out development machines as opposed to CDs and a list of what hardware is supported?  The machines are supposedly welded shut.
