florida isn't exactly the closest state to washington. I believe in order to get to florida it would have to go through chicago or LA, there's no direct route, which would make your ping around 150ms, which isn't ideal for downloading.

Or is that the speed your isp gives you?

My ISP claims to give me 1.5Mbps.  The highest I've ever recorded is 154k/sec.

And I pinged illhostit.com and got 129ms.

You understand that a 1.5mbps connection line will only let you download at about 150kb/s right? 1.5 mega bits, or 1536 kbps, 8 bits per byte would make it 192kb/s plus packet headers and such would put you around 150-160kb/s as the max for your connection.

I have a 6mbps line, and my max is about 760kb/s, and MrX has a 7mbps line apparently (from looking at his ISP's website, thats what it looks like)

Yes.  And BellSouth sucks for it.

btw- I maxed out at 1.2MB/s (yes MEGABYTES!!) that was just a burst and with the help of Stryker's server I can reach my down cap which is 7Mbit and the analogx netstatlive bounces from 7000Kb/s to 9.3Mb/s .

Also, the shaw tech is going to be coming over on tuesday to fix my modem (connection issues when I fire up azereus bittorrent, I keep on getting 'disconnected from server' with opera, and aparently the modem has a bunch of errors, I will ask him to 'tweak' the speed if he can :)

This poor guy I know has dial-up down my street and it's so sad. He's always saying how good my connection is. Well, I just download stuff for him and then bring my harddisk to his house and well, that's quicker than him downloading it at 4-6KB/s ! haha

Hows about postin' this on a big ass site like BBR/DSLR? Try in http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/hotmembers I may let you use my account if you need to. I've been there for a few years so it wont look so much like a day one spammer if you have over 1100 posts.

That's really whats stopping me from advertising on various forums, is I don't do forums very much and don't exactly have a high post count. I have the highest here actually. I'll probably get in touch with you in a few days, got some stuff I need to take care of first.

Simplicity is the goal. I don't want to put 100s of 2x2 pixel graphics on there and slow everything down. People can still easily get to the file hosting service, like always... I want that to be really easy. And all of our other services are easily accessible, with low page transition times. I wasn't going for complicated.

I actually believe your lay-out is way too complicated at the moment. Dumb it down a bit (Gnome / GetFirefox.com style).
