Mac OS X Intel and DRM?

Apparently, there is support in the kernel of developer machines for a DRM chip (namely, Infineon 1.1) to prevent the operating system from working on non-Apple hardware.

Please, do not turn evil Apple....

Good.  I've been using computers since 1985 and OS X has been one of the few things that has made me truly excited and happy to use my machines.  They've done everything right, and put together a hell of an operating system and platform; I don't need 13 year olds warezing copies to run on their eMachines to ruin that by subtracting money that would go toward R&D.

The DRM in the Intel Mac isn't what it's made out to be.  The only thing it's doing so far is checking that Rosetta is running code on the correct machine.  The Tiger for Intel thing will run on any PC, but Rosetta won't emulate PPC code on just any machine.  For all I know, it could be left-over code from the company that originally made Rosetta (not Apple).

And running OS X on an eMachines/Dell/crap o' the month PC would not seem right.
