Monsanto has been doing crap like this for awhile.  It's actually part of the American global economic "conspiracy" to take over the world.  They develop seeds/animals and ship them off to impoverished lands, usually for free, but after signing a legal contract that prevents anyone from using non-Monsanto products.  Monsanto sells corn seeds to Tanzania (for example), and now no one in Tanzania can grow non-Monsanto corn.  Tanzania, of course, jumps on the offer (hypothetically speaking), because they are getting a whole shitload of corn seeds for free.  The profit leaves Africa/Asia/SAmerica and flows back to the US, where it belongs.
