Inkscape

Aloone_Jonez:
I just discovered Inkscape has anyone else used it before?

From first impressions it seems quite cool but I've found it quite slow (this might be due to my shitty on board graphics card). However it's only version 0.42 so it's still in beta phase and it's still very impressive. I think I'll sitck with using OpenOffice draw for vector graphics, and I'll check this out from time to time.

DBX_5:
looks tantalizing!
zeta supports SVG graphics, and so does BeOS R5 if you get the new tracker beta for it.

Aloone_Jonez:
There are already Mac OS and Windows ports for Inkscape, I wonder how easy it is to compile under BeOS, does BeOS have a gcc compatable compiler?

How about graphics, is BeOS in anyway compatable with X.org or is there an X fronend available?

DBX_5:
yes, X was made for it, but it only works on Zeta (tried many times with the developer to get it to work on R5, it did not)

btw- Nvu just got ported to BeOS today.

muzzy:
Inkscape is pretty good, especially as they've started introducing some really good stuff in the latest versions. It still has a lot of issues, non-intuitive things all around the program, and some things are just a mess. The controls are not very polished, but getting better in each new version I've tried.

Definitely worth trying out :)

Here's something I made in Inkscape, although I never finished it. It'd still need a lot of work:  http://muzzy.net/files/spoontux-2.jpg
