google is... and will get ahead. For example, Google bought Keyhole and just renamed it to "Google Earh" A lot of their money comes from stocks.

Welcome to MES. :)

Welcome, vincent.
Indeed, what do you folks think about Google? To me, they seem very good ATM - getting ahead thanks to superior service, not bad marketing practices.

Yeah, Google rock. I sell my soul to Google.

Google Talk is about 900kb.
Microsoft Windows Messenger is about 7.5MB.

I see the expanding services of Google generally as a good thing. Most of the services compete with the ones from Microsoft and MSN.

I will always be a bit worried about any one company becoming too powerful, but at the moment Google is doing an awesome job at Doing Things Right. I really hope they can keep it up.

Even though Google rely on Linux, they don't do jack shit to help spread it.
This is not a Windows help forum, however please do feel free to sign up and agree or disagree with our views on Microsoft.

Oh and FUCKMicrosoft! :fu:

But where would Linux newbs be without Google?  Hell, even veterans Google a lot.  It's not really so much a search engine as it is a reference library.  That is doing A LOT for Linux.

Google is a search engine, not the OSDL. However, it would be nice if they made Google Earth native Linux.

They do support Linux quite a lot actually, for example Google Talk has information on setting it up with Gaim, etc. Does AOL, Yahoo, or Microsoft provide that kind of information for their messengers?

No, Trillian and Gaim where very persistant on hacking it out of the various messengers.
