Bird Flu is on the Way
« on: 4 September 2005, 04:21 »
Having missed the boat on 9/11 and on Hurricane Camille, it should be no surprise that the federal government is similarly out to lunch on a looming catatrophe that could dwarf those two events combined - bird flu.

The government's extraordinary mishandling of Hurricane George, as many have dubbed it, has spawned numerous conspiracy theories. In this spirit, I can't help but wonder who's going to get vaccinated when avian flu hits. It sounds like there's only enough vaccine for about 1% of the U.S. population. That ought to cover top government officials, corporate executives and their cronies. I'll bet the federal government has already made plans to save Bill Gates' miserable hide.

So that's why Bush was playing the harp while Rome was burning...
