Run Linux On Windows XP

ChakanTGM:
Yesterday I wrote a review called "Create a Windows / Linux Hybrid System". It's a tutorial of sorts that shows you step by step how to do just that.

Don't believe it? Look at the review on my website:

...and?

Annorax:
... and you expect us to hail you as a savior for "discovering" dual boot?.

hm_murdock:
it doesn't look at all like he's talking about dual-boot, guys.

It looks more like:

Run Linux in something like VMWare.

Run a Windows-based X11 server and connect to the virtual Linux box.

Run X11 stuff on Linux, via Windoze.

Not a bad idea, really.

Calum:
it's not an 'idea' as such, but it is a very good looking tutorial about how to use cygwin, vmware et c in windows. personally i do not see the point. sure, linux is very cool and so are its programs but if you want to use them, just use real linux! why run linux stuff on a hobbled insecure heap of shit like windows? 'wouldn't it be nice to seamlessly... blah blah blah' yes it would, but you will have a much better chance of making the whole setup secure and stable if you start of with linux as your base and not windows, then you can get out the vmware, winex, dosemu et cetera and show us all how it's done. what do you think?
