I always managed to get Samba working with the help of Webmin.

Although some hardcore Linux gurus may call you a pussy, it's an easy way to configure Samba.

I don't know, maybe read the Samba documentation?
http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/

When I searched google I found a lot of hits for info on setting up and configuring samba.

Oh yeah, and SWAT was a good tool as well.

.... pussy....

Erm..... I dont have my server up right now or i might have a bit more info. But seriously, if you go with SuSE YaST has a very easy setup utility for the Samba server.

Thats one long ass official documentation... try this one from tldp.org http://tldp.org/HOWTO/SMB-HOWTO.html its a bit more straight forward i think
