1280*1024*60 on the 19inch crt.
1024*768*60 on the seconary 17inch crt.

If they were LCD I would chuck them up a notch.

What model is your monitor?

And by which Manufacturer?

My current monitor does :-
1600x1200@72Hz <-- Current Resolution
1280x1024@85Hz
1024x768@100Hz
800x600@120Hz
640x480@150Hz

It's a Highscreen monitor, and it's only sold in Vobis stores across Europe.

LeadHead,
I'm sure your video card does more than 1280x1024@85Hz, my shitty on-board card can do 1600x1200 32-bit @ 85Hz.

How can you be sure it can't?

My card can do more screen modes than the ones listed in Windows and with Linux the list of modes varys from distro to distro as they ude differant drivers.

1152x864 @ 85Hz.  Compaq V700.

In Windows I could make this setup do 1280x960 @ 85Hz - but in Linux I haven't been able to make it work.  Modelines, refresh ranges, all that stuff.  All it does is use that spanning mode where you move the mouse and the whole screen shifts....or 60Hz.  Which I would never use.

That's probably your monitor limiting you most graphics cards don't care about the refresh rate posibly apart from really old ones.

I like my monitor, I also like the fact that it was produced in 1998 and can do 1600x1200@72Hz, which I think is respectable. :)

I would LOVE my sisters Eizo Flexscan L985EX though, which is worth around $3000. :(

I have refresh rate problems with my monitors on linux too. Both of them are on 60hz because thats all it'll let me do. At least I can get them on my favourite resolutions.

That's odd, I've never had a problem with refresh rates.

I'm assuming you've tried editing your xorg.conf file? :scared:

I use some Dell Trinitron, its 100hz and 1024*768.

Its so old and its able to handle it :D of course, I had to by pass a warning and its sopposed to do 1024*768 at 85hz, but I just like triple digits and want a new moniter when this one frys :D.
