That's odd, I've never had a problem with refresh rates.

I'm assuming you've tried editing your xorg.conf file? :scared:

um yeah.......

fuck, How on earth did I miss the vertical refresh range property...arg :nothappy:

Any way I found that extending the horizontal refresh range freed up a couple of resolutions that weren't previously available.

Well, I'm glad you figured that out. :)

I don't know what my refresh rate is, I use the monitor that comes glued on to the ibook.

Laptop LCDs are probably 60Hz, just like desktop ones.

Oh. It can't be that bad, though, I haven't been getting headaches and it doesn't flicker.

I love LCD monitors, just so long as they're worth the money. :D

LCDs never flicker, regardless of refresh rate.

Recently my CRT has been hurting my eyes, I fixed this by turning the brightness all the way down.  Still pretty visible, and my eyes don't hurt anymore.  I'd still like an LCD though - preferably, a Dell 1704FPV. <3

I'm using a TFT now and it's excellent I'd imadgine that it won't be long before they're cheaper than CRTs. The reason why they were so expensive is because it's hard to manufacture them because there were lots of rejects (often >50% due to bad lines and pixels) but technology is improving this process so it's become more efficient and making them cheeper.

I don't like TFT monitors AT ALL.

I would settle for LCD, for sure. :p

TFT is an LCD it just an enhancement to existing LCD technology. TFT stands for Thin Film Transistor, it's an LDC with millions of tiny transistors etched on the glass this speeds up the response and makes a sharper more clear picture.

So I conclude that LCDs suck shit and TFTs rule.

Hmm, all the TFT's I have seen have been way too sharp, that I couldn't even read anything on the screen.

My laptop screen has like a 2 second response time, built in speed blur.

MarathoN,
Too sharp?
How can it be too sharp?
I mean how can a sharp and clear picture be harder to read?

Pathos,
Your shitty old laptop will have a slow response as it's a crappy old LCD screen from a time before TFT was even invented.

Sorry, wrong choice of words, what I meant was, the colour  is far too saturated, and as a result I find it difficult to read anything on screen.
