This is just bad
« on: 25 October 2005, 13:59 »
My network card wont work under xp, as normal, and the help offered this advice.

[list=1]
  • Click Start, click Turn off computer, and then click Turn  Off.

If you are using Windows XP Professional Edition, click  Start, click Turn off computer, select Restart from the  drop-down list, and then click OK.
  • Detach your device from your computer.

If your device is a card, pull  it out of its slot. If the device is attached with a cable, unplug the cable  from the computer.
  • Reattach your device. Make sure that all cards are tightly seated in their  slots, and that all cables are plugged in securely.
  • Start your computer again, and check whether the device is working  correctly.

Does detaching and then reattaching the device solve the  problem?

Note the restart then pc, then remove the PCI card, which could result in shorts on the mainboard and costly hardware and data loss.
Windows XP Service Pack 2. Because we couldn't be arsed the first time.

Windows 98 Second Edition. Look, now you don't need that bloody CD to install new hardware.

Windows Vista. Even your computer knows you have a small penis.

Windows Blackcomb. We are planning the OS after Vista, which is allready a year late.

Windows ME, the Marmite Operating System.

XP Mobile. Take your errors with you.

MS could get sued over that one... no wait their EULA lets them sell defective **** all the time and not take responsability for it.

Indeed, it wouldn't surprise me if it was flawed quickly, just like in most Windows releases. :p

I had the same issue a while ago. The solution, according to Tech Support, was to reinstall Windows. Suprise, suprise. But it did convince my parents to get a Mac.

The problem is that fixing Windows problems is often far too complex for the average person. Techical support lines don't waste their time helping them, they come out with the usal bs all the time, often assuming the customer is too stupid to repair it.
This is not a Windows help forum, however please do feel free to sign up and agree or disagree with our views on Microsoft.
