Muzzy speaks wise words about Sony sucking and the need to boycott them.
There is no way that people can expect me to believe Sony corp was not aware of this crap, or that they shouldn't be held accountable. This is the company who put self-destruct codes in the blu-ray player spec, patented a system to make it impossible to play a game on any console except the one you first play it on, sued people who made mod chips for the PS2, broke the law by installing a rootkit on customers computers that compromised the security of said computers, refused to apologize for ******* its customers over with the rootkit, and refused to promise that they wouldn't release the same rootkit again.
Now it looks like they may have violated the copyright of the authors of GPL and LGPL software by buying and distributing said rootkit.... an action which would not be consistent for people out to "protect IP" but would be consistent for hypocrites out to control their customers. I seriously want to find out the end of that story.
Not to mention they had the balls to put a EULA on a CD. You don't need a licence for a CD! You only take licences when the copyright holder releases some of his/her rights to you, not sells you a copy. Oh yeah, another form of "drm" software from a set of other Sony/BMG CD's gets installed even when the customer rejects the licence agreeement.
This company has a serious attitude problem. How can anyone trust them ever again? I don't even know if the term boycott is appropriate. People should never buy their crap again so that this company goes bankrupt.
