[offtopic]Who the HELL said Emacs was bloated?

If I wanted to, I could bring that memory usage way down. But why would I want to? It's already using less than gedit. On an older machine, you can run the CLI Emacs and remove stuff you don't want (oh the beauty of well-engineered extensibility), and then it'd be comparable to vim (Infact it probably already is. I don't have gvim installed (the GUI frontend to vim), only vim. And vim is using 5.6MiB, I wonder how much the graphical version uses?). And solemnwarning you use KDevelop and you're saying Emacs is bloated?
What is the world coming to.

Emacs is extensible. It's bloated by default (not even. If you compile it you can configure what goes in, easily. But the distributors that packaged it for your system might have enable all the bells (not Emacs' fault). You can disable them anyhow (I'm sure)), but that's not a problem as long as your machine is newer than ~1960.[/offtopic]

Whats the solution then? Apple's OSX can only be run Macintoshes. Thats can get expensive not to mention a limited amount of hardware choices, because Apple only manafactures MAC hardware. I know they tried an OEM scheme that didnt work that well.

I'm not going to say that Mac is the solution.  But you should know a few things about Apples.  One, their hardware is the best available on the consumer market.  Two, a PC with comparable specs to a Mac would be more expensive than the Mac.  Three, the average PC company (Sony, Compaq, HP, Dell, Gateway) uses garbage hardware whenever possible, to offset the cost of the more expensive hardware.  Four, Apple's OSX is specifically designed to be integrated with their hardware on a bare-metal level, providing superior performance.  Five, there are never any driver or library conflicts on a Mac, because all the hardware is known and fully understood.  And six, Apple doesn't actually manufacture their hardware.  They use ATI graphics cards, IBM chips, and Seagate hard drives, just like everyone else.

Again, this is not a perfect situation.  But it doesn't quite make Apples suck either.  Make sure you understand why and how Mac hardware is controlled, and how that can affect the price.  Then you can make a better arguement against Apple, if you need to.

I wasnt criticizing Apple. I was pointing out that Macs are more expensive than PC's. They are. Im not reffering to I-macs or mac mini's.

The point I was trying to make is that there is a reason why they are expensive, and you really do get what you pay for.

Funny, because the iMac and the Mac Mini are their two most popular desktop computers.  I'll agree that the PowerMac is overpriced, but that's hardly representative of the whole product line.
