[offtopic]Who the HELL said Emacs was bloated?
If I wanted to, I could bring that memory usage way down. But why would I want to? It's already using less than gedit. On an older machine, you can run the CLI Emacs and remove stuff you don't want (oh the beauty of well-engineered extensibility), and then it'd be comparable to vim (Infact it probably already is. I don't have gvim installed (the GUI frontend to vim), only vim. And vim is using 5.6MiB, I wonder how much the graphical version uses?). And solemnwarning you use KDevelop and you're saying Emacs is bloated?
What is the world coming to.
Emacs is extensible. It's bloated by default (not even. If you compile it you can configure what goes in, easily. But the distributors that packaged it for your system might have enable all the bells (not Emacs' fault). You can disable them anyhow (I'm sure)), but that's not a problem as long as your machine is newer than ~1960.[/offtopic]
