What kind of drivers do i need
in order for my yamaha sound card to work ??:confused:

i do not know :)
it worked on auto detect with windows :)
i am curently installing
GStreamer,Xine and W32Codecs
see if it works :) and then ALSA
becouse it said that XMMS bugs with Alsa

I would've expected Ubuntu to have all you need already installed... Including gstreamer.

for some reason it does not detect my scard :(
so i am doing reinstall in case of coruption
couse i could not find info on the manufactorer's site

If Ubuntu didn't detect it the first time, it probably doesn't have a driver.

yup intalled every posible codec pack
and finaly it said no out put device :((

Have oyu tried manually selecting the correct driver?
Just because it doesn't detect it it doesn't mean it doesn't have a driver.

Jack, check the output of /proc/pci [ cat /proc/pci ] to find out which model you have.
Then refer to the ALSA webpage for Yamaha that PP gave you a link to.

ha did you know that my users were actually forbiden from sound!
had to join them in a group with the root
not very smart but... where i live
in my network there is just one
more linux pc :D

There should be a group called 'audio' (or maybe 'sound'). Adding them to that group should work.
Damn I overlooked the groups at the beginning...
