I thought they closed that loophole ages ago.

Why are taxes such a bad thing? I never got it...

It's a matter of principle. I'm offended by the idea that 55% of my income goes to pay for the war on free thought.

Although it depends on where the money is going (my city spends it on welfare, solving social problems, fixing shitty neighboorhoods and increasing culture and my country spends it on the War On Afghans), I have no problem with taxas itself.

After all, the people in your country made a choice of voting for Bush, thus flushing the economy down the drain and spending an awful lot of money on an over-ambitious war. So if that is what most people would like at least 25% of what they earn being spend on, so be it.

Most people?  Bush barely won both elections.  Not to mention, that hardly counts in the realm of taxes.  They're still spending my money.  If they didn't spend as much (regardless of who it is), it wouldn't be as big a thing.

Also, in this country, the politicians like to spend all kinds of money on "pet projects" of theirs, typically in their represented area, but not always.  They sneak them onto defense bills and stuff like that.  ABC News last night said that they spent $29 billion on that last year.

Bush lost the first election. Gore prematurely conceded when Florida's supreme court or governor or whoever-the-hell realized the pending recount would make Gore the winner and ordered the recount stopped. It should be noted that the governor was Bush's brother, so what valid motivation could there be to stop a recount mandated by state law?

Exactly ... other than that taxes are alright. I don't disagree with taxes, just where they are going.

Yeah well, if yall find the video boring ... it's this former IRS agent telling you that income tax is actually voluntary, and that money collected from income taxes isn't going to the places most people assume they are going.

Well, the official decision was "he won," and considering that the decision was the only thing making him win, I used the wording "barely."  I don't think he won by vote, either.  (I live in that freaking state.  I feel like noting that I find Jeb Bush much better than George W. Bush, even if he gave his big bro the presidency.)

There were several independent recouts done after the election of 2000 and ALL OF THEM showed Bush still being ahead. Get over it.*

*no I didn't vote for Bush - in 2000 or 2005.

PS: Oh and income taxes are not voluntary - unless of course you want to volunteer to spend time in federal prison.

Actually, legally the gov. has no right to make you pay income tax (that's what the video is about) ... but yes you will go to prison ... unjustly, illegally.

I wonder if they tried to recount the paperless Diebold machines (http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0310/S00211.htm) as well.
