Title: Latest EULA crap
Post by: mobrien_12 on 4 March 2003, 05:16
Here's the newest item from the MS security patch EULA's

quote:

You may only install and use one copy of the OS Components.  If you have multiple validly licenced copies of the applicable OS Product, you need to reconnect to this site and download an additional copy of the OS Components from each computer on which you are running the applicable OS Product.

So, if you are a sysadmin and have dozens of MS boxes, you can't just download the patch, put it on CD, and apply it to all the computers.  You have to go to each one and download another copy from the slow MS servers.

Nice.

Is it possible that this could have anything to do with "probing" your computer maybe?

I hope Microsoft embeds a program into Windows that checks if you downloaded an individual patch for your computer.
Imagine schools finally give up Windows.

it would be excellent if they made it so there was no physical way to just download the patch to a CD and apply it to multiple machines! let's hope it works out that way!
