A sad day for TV viewers.

A great day for crocodiles and embarassed Australians.

???? I don't think there were many Australians who didn't approve of what he did. ???

I feel for his kids.

He was as conservation minded as you could possibly be.

There aren't to my knowledge. His mannerisms (*cough*Crikey!*cough*) and television show are another thing alltogether.

All the Australians I know hated the guy.

Post by: pofnlice on 4 September 2006, 12:50
Most of the ones I knew liked what he did, but hated the image of Australians which was percieved by his shows.

I remember one time i was searching thru the channels when i saw that guy jump on a crock at least 3 heads longer then him and the next channel was reality TV and they showed victims of wild animals :D :D

any way i think is is not dead they are lieing ... the man can get away with anything
he is unique

I'll admit, I was just as guilty as the next guy. I watched, like many others, just waiting for that time he was got. Of course the programs are prercorded...but that didn't spoil the entertainment value. I remember even when he got his thumb nipped and everyone was saying he lost a hand.

He truly was one of the good guys though. I have watched him so long, We, as viewers were introduced and welcomed into his family life...and I genuinely felt like I knew him. I am greatly saddened by his demise, but he went doing what he loves best. With a job like his...or rather, what he redefined it to be, tat was a real hazard that he accepted and to be honest about it, was just a matter of time. He'll be missed.

"People make up lies all the time. You know Vietnam? Never happened."
"Yeah, but don't mention it around the Veteran's Hospital. Those guys are really committed to the lie."

RIP Steve.  :(

Now they'll probably have a marathon of his shows to honor him. Hey, at least he was one of the more professional croc wrestlers. All the other imitators couldn't even come close. Too bad. RIP Steve :(

the crocodile guy is an easy one to poke fun at but take a look at him and see if you can't honestly say he wasn't a really decent bloke.

i think it's a shame. it's like life saying "there you go, that proves you shouldn't try to be adventurous". Kind of like score one for the normal boring faction.

i hope he's up there somewhere entertaining people in the hereafter with his optimistic shouts of "take a look at that" etc.

Naughty naughty!

Did you know, Steve Irwin was falsely rumoured to have been killed so many times, Urban legends had a spot just for him? It's true, check itout!

Steves Personal Urban Legends Page (http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/weekly/aa022801b.htm#steveirwin)

Crikey, what a mess that was!

OK now, the jokes I've heard so far was, hey steve, that was a sharp bit of tail!

And

Steve Irwin will always have a bit of ray in his heart.

i heard quite a rubbish one about sting playing at his funeral, or jimmy nail singing crocodile shoes.

great barrier reef, eh? there's a lot of nasty killer things living out there (but then you could say that about anywhere off australia's coast really).

I've been there ... and I'm still alive. I didn't stay in the water long tho ... not cuz of sharks, but cuz of jellyfish (I don't like em, and they're often extremely poisonous)

He was chasing a very large stingray and the camera guy got in it's way then it got scared and turned towards him and attacked. Never trap a stingray I guess. I'm just glad it wasn't a croc when I first heard of this. Yeah I liked the guy, or his shows anyways.

Owned, he died on my birthday.

An American told me "the reason why we like him is because all our celebritys are junkies." I'm just thinking: whats wrong with that?

i don't know, something about specifying a questionable difference between americans and australians perhaps?

to me racist means prejudice about a specific race or species, which is not what is happening here, if any prejudice is being exhibited (i'm not sure that it is) then it's based on nationality, not race or species.

how's that for pedantic post of the month!

Hey Kintaro, I knew you couldn't stay away long :D

Welcome back.

Steve would actually have lived if the paramedics hadn't been braindead or if he would have had enough sense to leave the spike in there, especially with a deep would like that to the heart. Him removing the spike almost doomed him. The paramedics not suctioning the blood putting pressure on his heart doomed him for good.

I think the only way you can really die in such ways is for everything to go wrong ... which (in accordance with Murphy's Law) is likely to happen.

For the record, Kintaro isn't back.

I used account merging with a dummy account that happen to have the same IP address and e-mail address as Kintaro ;)

He was dead when they pulled him into the boat. He pulled out the stiger then kicked it.
Also, holy shit! It's Kintaro!
