A blogger highlights some of the neat new stuff Google has come out with recently. Most of it is focused on mapping stuff, but he mentions other fields as well.

Do you use the google maps apis? What types of things have you made using it? It might be a huge help to create a realistic city transport model I have in mind.
Re this discussion (http://www.stop-microsoft.org/bbs/index.php/topic,12307.msg135616.html#msg135616), it might interest you, it might not.
Anyways, I'll start learning about the apis. Mightn't be a huge help, but certainly of interest.

I'm currently working on a personal project to build a map from a MySQL database of locations. Currently, I'm trying to geocode the locations ahead of time, and add the lat/lons to the database. However, I'm having some troubles with that. My hosting server has been acting weird lately. Plus, I'm having trouble figuring out MySQL, now that I know PostgreSQL. Too bad I don't have PostgreSQL hosting.

For $20 a month I'll give you almost anything you want for hosting. I could do one better and suggest my insanely cheap VPS provider: www.rootbsd.net (http://www.rootbsd.net)

I pay about $100 per year, so I really have no right to complain about what I get.

I think my dreamhost account costs more than that. Might be late fees because I avoid the bill like the plague.
