netscape (on win98) doesnt seem to like downloading things, instead it brings up a page of encryption, has anyone else had/solved this problem?
*moan* i have to use IE to dl, and it likes to copy the files to a temp folder in window before it sends it to an appropriate directory, (that can get pretty big if its trying to dl 2 linux iso's to a 500MB partition)

my solution, get Opera (http://www.opera.com)

That isn't an uncommon problem. What has happened is some of the software you installed on your system has changed some of the necessary windows files or some files have been corrupted or both. To solve it click Start/Run and type in SFC (system file checker). You will need your Win98 CD in the cd drive. You can restore specific files or you can have it run through your entire system and restore files. I suggest the latter for your problem.

i ran SFC and it still wont dl any of the ISO's (from anywhere) properly....
But it saves opera just fine.

I like Mozilla better, it's free and it seems a bit more compatible than Opera.

yes i too prefer mozilla (which is what i use with linux).
But netscape was screwing up, and netscape is built off mozilla, so i thought i would try something completely different.

from what i see, opera isn't too great in linux, and mozilla is better on that platform, certainly than windows, i am using the net at work though, on a mac, and i love opera toppest, and mozilla a very close second...
