If you use Linux, and you're in the US, SCO is after you (http://www.vnunet.com/News/1143376). I don't think it will work. What will happen is they will have a bunch of comapanies after them, and 1000 angry people after them.
-
And here are 10 things SCO can do with it's bill.

ho hum.
SCO got a slapdown yesterday from Munich who fined them 10,000 euros for claiming there was stolen code in linux. Munich is of the opinion that SCO shouldn't be making those claims unless they have legal proof.
why won't that happen in the US?

Because the legal system in Germany works, the US just plays at being legal, like most things they do. Sorry to all my American friends on this board, that's not directly aimed at you. A broad sweeping statement, I know.
In Germany if you make a claim against someone you have to substantiate that claim to the court by a certain date, or the court can fine you. This is outside of the discovery stage.
Obviously $CO can't substantiate anything, hence a fine.
What does this tell you about $CO claims. On-top of all of t his they still have the gall to start issuing "Licenses". These people are greedy, megalomaniac, scum. By helping themselves there damaging a whole industry, potentially.

however they have removed all the stolen code allegations from sco.de website...

The SGI story is just speculation by ZDNET right now... but based on specific quotes made by SCO. It is only speculation, but it makes a lot of sense.
SCO: All your code base are belong to us.

No offense taken, matter of fact I agree! In the USA the legal system only works for the Rich.....
Case in point.....the recent Msblaster and Sobig worms...the FBI caught the teenager who changed the Code on one of these and sent it on it's way to reek havoc.......But does the US Gov't say anything to M$ for putting out Software that is Buggy or full of holes in the first place......Nooooo. Bill G. has come out smelling like a rose on this one and will still put out buggy software that the script kiddies are going to exploit.
Money has won out over doing what is right and just.

I don't understand this. Even if, and from what I understand, it is a big if, sco does win its case against IBM and get their monetary compensation, how can they go against linux users ?
I thought this sort of 'double dip' wasn't allowed in the USA.
Btw, how can they demand payment up front for usages without showing any proof of ownership ?
Isn't this even illegal ?
-
Tomorrow you get sued for using Linux.
Seriously I don't get why they do that.
-
Well helloooooooooooooo Mr. fancypants.
-Ash
Here'S why they would do it, cause Micro$hit is paying them to fuck over Linux and OSS as much as they can. Its not about money, its about getting people to stop using Linux and to use M$ shit software instead.
Large corps with idiot IT directors will buy into this shit and decide against using OSS cause of it.
