May I know if I wanted to convert HTML format to PDF format, what software do I need to use? Thanks (http://smile.gif)
-
OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org/)
-
How about Adobe Acrobat? BTW, Can OpenOffice be installed in Win98?
-
Yes, and yes (http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/1.0.1/index.html#windows).
-
to save as a pdf, you must use the print to file option in openoffice, and bob's yer uncle, fanny's yer aunt. openoffice can also be used in macOS, and linux amongst others. also, openoffice is free, and adobe acrobat is expensive.
-
If you can print it, you can make a PDF with open-source and/or free software. Here are detailed instructions.

Click File->Print, check the "Print to File" box and select "PDF" as the type.
-
Thanks Void Main, I tried that.
The only option I get is <All>
Ghostscript and bits from M. O'Brien's link installed etc.
Am I being a bit thick here?

You need to install GhostScript or Distiller (GhostScript is free)
http://www.openoffice.org/docs/setup_guide/appendix.html (http://www.openoffice.org/docs/setup_guide/appendix.html)
quote:
Connecting a PostScript for PDF Converter
If a PostScript for PDF converter such as Ghostscript or Adobe Acrobat Distiller(tm) is installed on your computer, you can quickly create PDF documents in OpenOffice.org.
1. Click New Printer. This opens the Add Printer dialog.
2. Select Connect a PDF converter. Click Next.
3. Choose whether to use the default driver, the Acrobat Distiller driver or another driver. Click Next. If you are not using the default driver or the Acrobat Distiller driver, select the appropriate driver and click Next.
4. In the next dialog, enter a command line with which to communicate with the PostScript->PDF Converter. Moreover, enter the directory where the PDF files created should be saved. If you do not provide this directory, the user's home directory will be used. In the command line of each created PDF document "(TMP)" is replaced by a temporary file and "(OUTFILE)" by the target file, the name of which is created from the document name. If "(TMP)" occurs in the command line, the Postscript code is transmitted in a file, otherwise via standard input (i.e., as a pipe). If Ghostscript or Adobe Acrobat Distiller is in the search path, you can use one of the predefined command lines. Click Next.
5. Assign a name to your new PDF converter. Click Finish.
You can now create PDF documents by printing to the converter that has just been created.

Unfortunately I am trying to get this done on Win 98.
The only option I get is <All>. If I put .pdf Acrobat won't open it (GS does).
Any help would be great because I am steering a company towards OSS and openoffice.org to PDF will be a very big plus and should push them to try.
Thanks in advance - sorry about involving nasty MS.

I've just found this link on another post http://www.godandscience.org/general/pdf.html (http://www.godandscience.org/general/pdf.html) (Thank you)
Save/print file as Postscript, use Ghostscript to convert it to PDF
That's waht I've got. But can I print/save from openoffice.org to PDF in one jump?
