Hi everyone. I have a problem I would like to know if I can get some advice on. I recently bought a new laptop from compaq that is pretty nice, but it has shitty windows xp in it. The os came with msn gaming zone, which I hate so I want to get rid of it. Everytime I delete it, the folder files restore itself. I tried a few of the tricks I learn in college, but I'm not getting anywhere. If someone could give me some advice to get this evil piece of crap off my laptop, I would be most appreachative. Thank you.

yes, windows doesnt want you to make decisions about your computer. it thinks that it knows best. if you must use windows, try the windows bbs (http://www.windowsbbs.com) for windows related 'help'. the only way to really fix the problem, or any windows problem, is to use something else. like mac or linux. a minor annoyance, but i hate not being able to delete certain folders that M$ deems vital to the os. like all the frontpage folders & IE, msn gaming zone, etc.. its bullshit. save yourself some trouble, download redhat 8.0 (http://www.redhat.com). its free & far superior to windows.

yes, download redhat8, install it on your computer, then come back here for whatever help you need with it.

I understand your frustration but that is what you get for using windows (no offense). I would also like to urge you to try an alternative OS like RedHat Linux 8.0. I don't know anything specific about your question but you could try the windowsbbs for an answer. We would be more than happy to help should you decide to install another OS. (http://smile.gif)

i removed winXP and installed win2k (for gameing purposes) and redhat8.0. i bought a toshiba laptop, and the only problem i have w/ it is that i can't use my modem in linux. if u are using a dial-up service as your isp, then look around and see if your modem is supported anywhere. untill i get around to finding my drivers, i have to use win2k to be on the internet
