Does anybody know what services I can disable in Windows XP? I think all these services are slowing down my computer. :( I want to disable services I know I don't use, or don't need. But I also don't want to harm my system.
By the way I found these services by doing Ctrl+Alt+Del .

Check out this page:

It's got a description for about every service in XPoo and weather or not to turn them off. But I say you throw away XP all together and get Linux, its much better, cheaper, faster and you dont have to worry about it spying on you...

It just drives XP Luser nuts to have to read facts about Linux. All he can do is sit there and squirm....
-
What I don't get is the wise guys who give him 2/5 stars. :D

Thanx a lot TRC, this is exactly what I needed! Good lookin out.

Thats whats im saying, XP is a bunch of crap!
Windoze XP Asshole #123456789666 You seem to think that XP or windows in genral dosent spy on you, well shit man your a moron, just take a look at those damn index.dat files. Also KDE3 takes about half the time in witch it takes my windozeME to start up, but my mac with os 10 starts up faster then both of them. I also notice that you didnt even help the man when he asked a question about your favorite "OS" all you could do is come here and try to flame linux. XPoo Luser you need to just shut the fuck up and go get some new themes for your windowblinds or something, your just plain worthless. And to cube6, no problem always trying to help.

cube6, i recommend overwriting your windows xp with either BSD, linux or some other GNU system, then and only then can you be sure that you have turned off all of its features...

Now look at me. I hate his guts. Give him time, and then when he gets set to prison for violating clause 258493 part 12834 of the Microsoft EULA for Windows $^#&, and he will figure it out. Maybe.
And XP User, if you wanted to get a better reputation in this forum, instead of trying to defend your shitty system, you could have helped your fellow XP user out with his problem. But no, you HAD to one up the other guy. You sir (and I use the word losely) have NO maturity WHATSOEVER.
As for the problem, I havn't a clue, since I don't use XP (thank god).

If you believe that XP Luser is 12 then I have some swamp land in Nevada you might be interested in buying.

Bullshit, I bet most people on this board never worshipped BG when they were 12. When I was 12 I worshipped Sir Clive Sinclair's ZX81 and the Oric 1. Never even heard of Microsoft at that time. Ha guess what I ain't 12 now and I often feel I've fallen backwards into the computer age, not forward.
XP Luser, you realise, don't you, that you are an embarassment to your fellow Americans?

Windows XP users "by-force": I recommend this freeware programme: XP Anti-Spy (http://www.xp-antispy.de/) (also avaible in English and Dutch).
Windows XP users "because-XP-iz-l33t-d00d": Search one hour for a good cutting knife in your house, and cut your wrists vertical (horizontal has more time-before-braindead).

Close source is just dumb. I want the source code baby! Than I can use it for my EXACT needs.. well... if I ever finish learning to program... hehe PERL is fun..
Anyhoo.. I messed with XP once.. trying to network it to a 98 machine... no luck... took a trip to Fry's and a new network card for it to finally agree with me... damn POS.. took me forever to find where the config....err.. properties thing for the network was on it...

My nephew just recently got back from Australia. He did an entire school year down there. He had a great time and didn't want to come back. Of course he met a young lady there that may have had something to do with it...

look at his profile! he's older than you! ;)

Well, I am pretty sure creedon is older than me but I can almost guarantee that I would be old enough to be your dad. Who knows, maybe I *am* your dad. (http://smile.gif)

FYI, those are processes, not necesarily services. to see services, right click on my computer and select manage, go to services at the bottom ;)
