Why not use my idea...
Use a transperant png for the background, a black color background (as in the bgcolor thing) and white text. When the page renders in MSIE (which does not support transperant png's) you wont see the text.
(This reminds me of early 2002 when me, calum and a few others where just getting into web design) :)

Did it to my site, althought slightly modified, don't want to link people to porn.
I just wanted to know if there was a way to make the "Welcome to my site" part not appear. So that people without IE will not know I have a Java Script there. That message is also annoying.
-
Just make your site not appear at all to them.

And you all fail at it.
-
I would do this if my site weren't intended to provide an alternative to Windows. Eh.
The Quirk's edge is funny.

I'd say he's jealous of our 1337 script skills.
-
Only problem with the script though, is that if the user has modified their title, for example mine says "Let's all fuckmicrosoft.com" then it wouldn't work. I would change browsers, but what can I say? I'm too lazy (http://tongue.gif)

you can't edit programs in WIndowz
-
theoreticaly, could one block Mozilla, or Opera in the same way?
If so would identifying the Browser as MSIE6, as can be done in both Opera, and Mozilla, bypass the browser blocking?
because I can see newer versions of IE being somewhat different that IE6 in mayjor ways.
And I can fore see MS making some of its own sites
like say Longhornsupport.com (does'nt exist), and other sites that it would have a corperate influence over blocking all but the newer versions of IE
and what the hell is MSN explorer, I saw it on an XP machine at work. You thought IE had holes!

You can't block me. My agent string is the following:
quote:
Mozilla/Ninja Edition (Sega Genesis; U; Loonux; en-US; rv:1.2.3) Gecko/20020530
And it can be easily changed, too. So don't try anything fishy.

What would really be the puprpose of blocking browsers from your page (besides some sorta ego booster) The puprose of the net is to share information, not form cliques.
-
Microsoft Windows XP with Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 is capable of features like millions of popups, and putting icons on your desktop when you visit porn sites.
Its amazing what Windows XP CAN DO!
-
Okay I know a lot of people will probably criticize me for this but here it goes.
Within a corporate environment you are expected to accomidate for all types of users, this means lynx, galeon, konqueror, mozilla, opera, netscape, and IE users. Unfortunately, this is the hard reality that we are faced with but if it is your own personal site, well then go for it. However, shouldn't information be free and visible for all walks of life or are you rather fond of censorship, what the US gov't does best?
Don't get me wrong, IE is a piece of crap!
Just a thought -
