The final version of 1.21 is now available. Get it.
-
why is a mozilla topic in the Microsoft Eradication Society Forums
-
Hey, that's a good question. Even though there is a Windows version it certainly shouldn't be here. (http://smile.gif)
-
 OK then, where does it go? I just figured that it is an application, and an alternative to a popular M$ application, Internet Exploder... Since there is a windows version, I suppose it dosn't go in the Linux forum, the Lounge maybe?
-
I would probably have picked the lounge but I see your thought process. Either way it's no big deal, we all got the message. (http://smile.gif)

My first impression of Mozilla 1.21 is:
Stick with the beta.
I went to a simple ftp site, and all Mozilla did was bring up a black screen. Tried again in Konqueror, and it worked. I don't know whats going on with the Mozilla team, but if you have 1.2beta, maybe it would be best not to upgrade just yet.
V
Further investigation...it was an RPM I was downloading, right clicking the link and doing save target as worked. Probably another case of .rpm ambiguity (for those who don't know, the extension .rpm is used for Redhat Pacakge Manager files, and embedded Real Media files).

Did you delete your old profile directories? Sometimes they change things and the old settings are not compatible with the new browser.
-
Yeah, I deleted the old version.
-
lol ill stick with 1.0.1 i think
-
hehehe, if all moz 1.2.1 is is 1.2.0 with a bug fix, it kicks major ass. like my main computer doesn't crash/*i though it was an X window system problem, it was a redhacked browser*/ and the fonts are fucking awsome.. the defualt font is a bit wonky for the menus, but your in it for what the sites look like under it. just remember to install the xft version. trust me, its awsome, i can take screenshots if anybodys interested
-
I think I'll stick with 1.1 for the time being, although I mostly use Chimera (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/chimera/) for browsing (http://tongue.gif)

ya give us a geez - i need a comparison.
-
Chimera is the best browser ever! Fast, stable, lite wieght.
And when i say fast, I mean, BLINDINGLY fast. Browsing pages is like flipping them in a book.
-
I'll stick with 1.1 until the new one is free of most of the bugs, and in 100% Dutch, like 1.1 is now (http://smile.gif)
-
I'm using 1,2b on Windoze, and Chimera on Jaguar. Chimera rules.
I can't download 1.2.1 for Win anyway. Says that the file can't be found at the site...
-
its not letting me into the download directory, what kind of bug fix is this

Supposedly 1.2 had problems rendering some DHTML.
-
its up know, and yes, thats why they recalled and rereleased it, talk about a bug fix, too bad microsoft doesn't recall all their shit and fix it, FOR FREE. then agian, even with competent bug fixers/re-programers, it would be a while till they fixed it
-
I was about to type mozilla.org into my browser and then I realized I could just click the Mozilla logo (http://tongue.gif)
Thanks for the heads up.
Edit: Are they on dialup?! Jeez it's going slow. Is there anywhere else I can download it?

I think it has more to do with red tape:
Coder: We found this bug.... it sux... May I Fix it? I know how....
$PHB: No. I would have to write a report about why we should fix it for free when it will be better for the bottom line if we sell the bug-fix as a new version....

re: why's this topic in 'applications', it is where all threads should get started if they are about applications. unless they are mac specific, or *nix specific applications, then they should go in here. that's my opinion anyway. until the alternative OSs section get's a *NIX applications and *NIX in the News section, then that's the way i think it should be.
as for mozilla. i think i'll stick to phoenix, although they've been stuck at version 0.4 for an awfully long time i think!
-
The only problem we have with Mozilla being in "Applications" is that it is in "All Things Microsoft"->"Applications". Mozilla is not a Microsoft application although there is a version that runs under the Microsoft operating systems. There are versions that run under several other operating systems equally. But as I said, it isn't very high on the "big deal meter". I don't think the answer is to create a separate applications forum for every OS either. Maybe just move "Applications" out of the Microsoft category.
-
yeah, fair enough, that would be a good solution.
edit - there you go! fixed! :D :D :D :D :D :D

it should really be in the microsoft forum considering the description says "a place to talk about IIS, Office," and its filled with thread about windows applications. Isnt it supposed to be more of a forum for microsoft programs like office, IIS, and other non-windows-integrated microsoft applications?
-
MOR: Reboot your Linux systems or the NIMDA virus will kill them.
-
FINALLY managed to download it after days of trying. Doesn't seem too different to me.

it was meant to be that a year ago. haven't you noticed that many people talk about non microsoft applications on here, and many people do not talk about microsoft applications? there is nothing stopping you talking about office and so on in this thread, just now you're allowed to talk about mozilla and other applications too.

Good point calum, i was thinking of suggesting this being moved.
-
Just downloaded Moz 1.2 RH8 RPMs.
Very nice, although the Orbit theme I have doesn't work in the new version. Oh well.
edit: nevermind, I just downloaded the updated version for 1.2.

1.0.1 sucks in so many ways compared to 1.1 and 1.2... for instance some animated GIF rendering is fucked up in 1.0.1 and certain web pages render badly with it that 1.2 has no trouble with. 1.2 also can detect your gnome theme and apply it to itself, which is cool. 1.2 has RH8 rpm's with XFT support which makes it look a lot better especially when you look at big text.
-
1 caused a few short lockups in the system when browsing, around 1 to 3 seconds sometimes.
using 1.1 now and haven't seen any of this happening yet.
