hey all, and its the first time Mr X has posted something 'usefull'
i hacked my user agent on mozilla 0.9.3 to say
from BeOS Mr X: j00 |^|4\/3 |233|\| 0\^/n3D !!
and this just makes me cool.
here is how to do it on mozilla:
search for prefs.js open it, and copy all data.
make a new file in that same folder, name it user.js
now just paste all the info into it. enter this line at the end:
user_pref("general.useragent.override", "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible;MSIE 5.5; Windows 98)");
and in the quotes where it contains the user agent string, (starts with Mozilla) change it to say what ever you want, like some hacker lingo, taunts, or that you are george bush or bill gates and i am going to hack up your server. now save and exit the file. restart mozilla, and test with this page:
http://macfaq.org/hacks/useragent.html (http://macfaq.org/hacks/useragent.html)
it should spit out what ever you wrote in the browser agent setting ;)

Or you could just browse to about:config, create a new string value for general.useragent.override, and enter "blah-de-blah-blah" in the Value field...

Don't say that (http://smile.gif)
Your BeOS stuff is pretty awesome. I wouldn't find myself using BeOS on a daily basis, but you do, and therefore, you're awesome.

Make sure not to change it to something too saucey like "lynx"!

Yeah I read that. Isn't there some judge specialized in computers who can decide that using Lynx isn't the same as cracking computer security.

Just because somebody posted what you said first is no need to get your knickers in a knot, worse things happen all the time.

Yes, but that's the job of the moderators (http://smile.gif)

I'll leave it here, just to spite TheQuirk.

That can't be real. There can't be someone out there who is so f***ing dumb that they think an unusual agent ID is a hack attempt.
