Fair enough. As for me, I'm not a fan of Linux, but I do like FreeBSD.

Post by: Laukev7 on 13 January 2004, 06:29: Hmm, I tried to install 5.2, but so far it looks very buggy, at least the installer (never could finish the installation). First, when I put in the boot floppies, it shows all the commands like 'load -t mfsroot /mfsroot (before the system boots, I mean). Then, when I partition my hard drive, I get a message saying that the geometry was incorrectly detected (which didn't happen with FreeBSD 5.1 or 4.9). Then, after I manually set up the geometry of my hard drive (ad1), I got all kinds of errors during the installation, like 'Error on partition /: disk full'.

Post by: Laukev7 on 14 January 2004, 02:21: Both 4.9 and 5.1 worked very well, and much better than 5.2. It's been like four times I've been trying to install 5.2 before I could even get it to work.

And since when are the apps installed with sysinstall in /usr/local/bin instead of /usr/bin ??? WTF? Maybe my memory is failing, but I recall that mc (midc in the old versions) used to be in /usr/bin, not in /usr/local/bin.

Edit: Finished ranting. I'll STFU and wait for the STABLE release. But I'm so impatient, and the STABLE branch isn't going to be until the 5.3, which is in March!
