I have yet to get a game to work in WINE. I have gotten all the installers to come up, but all my games need directX (i need to get wineX) . What games have you gotten to work with wine?

i've got xbill (windows version) to work with wine, and i suspect that minesweeper, reversi and solitaire will work too, but then you get all those with red hat anyway!

ahhh, long list,here goes
Diablo II
Fallout I
Fallout II
Fallout tactics
Freespace: the great war
Freespace: silent threat
for more utilitarin items, i have gotten ms's version of the bsd ftp client working and solitar

how did you get diablo II to work under wine? It needs directX.
-
WineX is wine with a bunch of directx compatiblity built into it. and diablo II ran under wine just not reliablely

this is about WINE successes.. not WINEX. (http://chatroom.fuckmicrosoft.com:8000/images/spinsmile.gif).
I tried to install diabloII using WINE, but it asks me to switch CD's several times during the install, and i cant unmount the CDROM to switch CDs, how did you do it?

the numbers are fucked up for some reason, but this is windows calulator running in wine under red hat.

I think that you need the Klingon to English translator.

what about Half-Life/Counter-Strike? <-- that's like one of the major reasons i've been clutching on to wintendo for as long as i have.

You need WineX for CS & HL

i had heard somewhere that vALVEhas been in the process of porting HL (client) to linux for some time. that, supposedly, came straight from vALVE. it was probably a year ago when i first discovered it. a year later and still nothing. although HL/CS is still thee most popular multiplayer FPS there is, by far, there's other games that are starting to look attractive to me, so even if they do a port it may be too late anyway. HL runs on a modified Q2 (or is it the Q1) engine - i forget now. there's better engines out now, including Q3 and unreal, whatever engine they use.
give me 1 wish? ok, i wish they'd change engines to the Q3 one and do a linux port. there's little doubt in my mind that HL could continue as king of the hill for another 3 years if these changes were made, primarily the engine.
