Title: Webcams?
Post by: Neuro7 on 2 December 2002, 00:08
Do webcams work in Linux? I have RedHat 8.0 and a 3com webcam and was wondering how I would go about getting it to work in Linux. 3com only made drivers for win98 and said that they wouldn't support any other OS's.

Thanks,

I have the 3com Home Connect. Mine never worked in any distro, until I upgraded my kernel to 2.4.19. Now it works in GnomeMeeting and I can grab snapshots from it from the command line. Haven't figured out how to get it to work in Kino yet. But I think the video really sucks on this camera (mine anyway) no matter what OS you run it in.
