Geek.com: RON'S OPINION
What a joke! How interesting it is to me that Microsoft can only combat the Open Source movement by funding biased research, surrounded by partial truths. If terrorists (or anyone else for that matter) wanted to hack Windows, they would have to look no further than the many scripting languages and security vulnerabilities Microsoft provides with its operating systems. The countless viruses and worms written to take advantage of Microsoft Outlook Express and Outlook, as well as Internet Explorer and the Microsoft Office suite, are a testament to the gross insecurity of MS products.
Does Linux have its vulnerabilities? Can it be compromised by worms? Obviously it can, but though some would argue that the greater proliferation and use of the Microsoft operating systems make them a greater target, Linux is used on many, many Internet servers today, and most of those servers remain secure. Linux is more customizable than Windows (it can be run on a single floppy or a high-end mainframe), therefore it can by nature be made more secure because of its flexibility. Windows can *not* attain this flexibility because it was designed to function with a lot of user-friendliness (the GUI), and the interface and related components take comparatively massive amounts of disk space.
I am not arguing that Linux is more secure than Windows, I am just arguing that a report of this nature should seriously weigh both sides of the issue and should not be funded by Microsoft--or any other company for that matter. It would be equally bad for a company such as IBM (a Linux proponent) to fund a report stating that Microsoft operating systems are less secure than Open Source.
This is just another instance of Microsoft's marketing machine at work again, only this time in stealth mode.
Be carefull what you post, because the quote is from the article too (http://tongue.gif)

XP Luser likes to post articles that make it look like (from the headline, it's all he reads) that he might have a good point, but upon really reading the article, us smartasses eventually prove him wrong (http://forum.fuckmicrosoft.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=6&t=000100).
It'd be funnier if he didn't act like he was a toddler who doesn't get enough attention the other 98% of the time.

Why oh why does this dipshit still post here?
We prove him worong on most counts and he still posts!
This white paper is a joke! He claims that Open Source is easier to hack due to the source being available. Then it is found out that his very server runs on Apache. He respnds be saying something like 'Oh it's not BSD we don't like, just the gpl'. Now source is source, ug.
XP loser quit posting usless drivel, and get lost. No-one here cares about your half-informed pre-canned opinions. And to top it off you post this link, which gives the article and then debunks it all at once.

he will not stop as long as five people respond to any new topic he starts. This one is just some shit link with no other words, how lax.

lol this XP Luser guy is hilarious, keep him around ehehehhe
XP Luser here is exactly how safe Winblows is:
File does not exist: c:/program files/apache/realdocs/d/winnt/system32/cmd.exe
ya know what that is? that is a worm trying to infect my Linux computer, if i had Winblows i would already be infected at least a hundred times, i got thousands of lines like that in the error log to my website. i'm transitioning my website right now, putting it on Windows until i get my new Linux puter...i just hope to god i don't get infected till then.
i still don't understand how Windows is not as safe as Linux, Linux is open source meaning that ANYBODY can examine it to find flaws yet for some reason there are thousands more virus for Windows than for Linux.....lol
