Title: Just installed red hat 8.0 first impressions

I had put mandrake 9.0 on just two weeks ago but after hearing most of you say red hat was the shit I decided to give it a try.

I like the setup phase more than mandrake except for the fact that it did not auto detect my lan card. (I know it's a small thing but mandrake and even XP can do it) So I had to look up what type of lan card I was using and then it worked fine.oi 0op- (that was cat type) (cat feet on the keyboard)

Anyway I'll let you know more as I try it out.

Anjuta and glade are also good if you want to design gtk+ apps.  But Kdevelop and QT designer are hard to beat.    ;)

Good news bad news.

Mandrake would crash on this computer if you left it idle more than half an hour.

Red hat stayed running all night.

On the weird side I can no longer get on the web with red hat. I click on the icon and Mozillz pops up for a second and then goes away again. WTF???? I never had that happen with a microsoft product. It just turns itself off 5 seconds after I click on it.

Any suggestions ???

Run mozilla from the console and see what error messages pop up in the background.

You didn't happen to have installed Macromedia flash did you?  If so, this is a similar problem I have had with the flash pluging causing Mozilla to crash when opening a page containing bad flash. If you don't have flash installed I'm not sure because Mozilla has not once crashed on me without flash.
