I use Linux for everything. It's easy. Yesterday I created a spreadsheet in openoffice and forwarded it to my boss in Excel (bleh) format. I downloaded SNL skits on Kazaa lite (which runs on linux with wine) and watched them using Xine (which doesn't keep track of what you watch like Windows Media

Damn right!
Although some people dont have it so easy....

They're probably just using an older version of Linux. Mandrake 9 / Red Hat 8 (still in beta) are good choices.

Orc Peon could you tell me how the hell you got kazaa lite working in wine. i am having some trouble with it.

Well, the tricky part is you have to use some Windows DLL's. I got mine (this is true) by logging into some loser who lives in my dorm building's Win ME box and downloading the files from his system folder. He left his entire C drive shared (read/write access too) You see, I like using nmap to scan for open ports on everyone's computers ;) If you aren't this lucky, you'll need physical access to a Windows 9x/Me box. Make sure you use the latest version of wine, too, and don't use WineX. That is for games only. More details here (http://franksworld.net/wine/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=134&page=1). Good luck!
