I want to setup a dual monitor system on my linux machine. It is a laptop.
I want monitor one to be the primary laptop display (already configured and working), and a monitor that will be plugged into a VGA port in the back of the laptop to be the second.
Is this possible? And if so, how?

Yes.

Depends on your hardware.

I tried doing it with an ATI card. Involved installing the ATI drivers and recompiling the kernel. Geforces are a lot easier to do.
