what do you mean "top 10"? like... the 10 best? I couldn't really say for sure, most things can be run in other operating systems so it's not just linux. i like gimp, bash, mozilla, mysql, and open office. I could name a few more, but I'm in a hurry.
Oh, and don't forget all those little games linux tends to come with, those are great.

i dig openOffice, evolution, bash. though i dont do alot on the command line, i like bash, and i have been getting more adventurous with a terminal. oh yeah, apt-get with synaptic. great app ;)
-
i use most often, mozilla, gaim, xmms, bash, openoffice, erm... konsole.... thats all i can think of.... oh... and civilization.
-
the top ten apps on linux I use are (in no particular order):
Evolution
Openoffice
Mozilla
Gimp
Gnome terminal
cdrecord
Warcraft 3 (not a linux program but it runs on linux)
aMSN
gtk-gnutella
vi
I think a *lot* of people use the first 3 I mentioned. Frankly evolution is so good they should port it to windows and OSX so people can use it as a replacement for Outhouse.
-
Gaim
Mozilla
Evolution
XMMS and plugins/visualisation stuff
links - for when a GUI just isnt availiable
Gnome - not really a program but a damn good lookin window manager
MPlayer
X-Cd-Roast
bash - ofcourse
apt for rpm
Frozen Bubble (http://smile.gif)
ClanBomber - the coolest bomberman game ive ever seen
Nautilus
OpenOffice
Well its more than 10 but hey who gives a shit?
-
Emacs
Links
Wine
Mozilla
GAIM
GTK-Gnutella
GKrellM
OpenOffice
XMMS
Enlightenment

i agree 100%. that would rock. i would use it at work & probably get the rest of the office to use it. i got everyone to use mozilla ;)

those people who want to use evolution should get linux.
-
My favorite programs, in order:
1. KDE
2. XMMS w/ KMMS
3. GAIM
4. Konqueror
5. Gimp
6. Mplayer
7. Kate
8. Eterm
9. Limewire
10. KDevelop
11. Quanta
...
15 (or so): WINE
Once WINE hits beta stage it will probably go to around 7/8 depending on how well it works (http://smile.gif)

i would love to be able to do that here at the office. but we are an architectural firm dependent on Autocad. which is only produced for windows (fuck autodesk  ). we could get something like archicad (yes, kick ass program) and can choose to use it on either mac or windows. i dont think linux has a drafting app that could replace autocad. its too bad. i guess i could write autodesk a letter. anyways. it would be nice to use evolution at work, even if we cant use linux.

Why would you want to promote a program that encourages developers to not make native linux applications?
-
Because it could encourage windows users to try linux. Perhaps a large enough number for software companies to take notice.
-
gaim
zapping (TV!!!)
Mozilla (kicks IEs arse)
Return to castle wolfenstein (the linux version, heh)
gkrellm
xmms
gimp
wine
winex
mplayer
