Title: Starcraft error (help me void!)
Post by: Siplus on 28 November 2002, 20:27
i have winex 2.2.1, and i am going through the starcraft isntall, but i get this error that throws me out of the setup:

Error:
Unable to create link to C:\Program Files\Starcraft\Starcraft.exe as C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Program\Starcraft\Starcraft.Ink.
Installation aborted.
Error 0: Success
at: LinkUndo.cpp line 165

other then just aborting the install, it also deleted my Start Menu directory i made in my fake c (/home/siplus/wine-c)

any thoughts? i asked someone on irc (irc.openprojects.net #winehq), but they didn't know what to do

tia

That's funny. I don't remember getting that option. Maybe mine crapped out at that point to but I never noticed and just ran the executable that was installed under "Program Files\Starcraft". All I know is it runs perfectly.

there is no option to not isntall shortcut in startmenu, however, i don't think it's any fault of wine/winex b/c i installed diablo (although this game is not supported i believe) and it had no problems during install. maybe there is just something wrong with my starcraft cd.....i dunno what to do

Did it create a "/c/Program Files/Starcraft" directory with a "StarCraft.exe" and other files in it (or in whatever directory your wine Windows installation is configured for)? If so just run the StarCraft.exe through wine and enjoy.
