Title: Recomendations for browser
Post by: edisav on 21 February 2003, 05:30
Hello dear Linux-maniax out there!

Sometime ago I asked for suggestions for a distro, most people recomended Mandrake. So I downloaded it and it runs great, but I just wish I had more time to screw around with it.

This time around I'm asking for recomendations for a really good browser that MUST BE EXTREMETELY SECURE, and that also won't present many problems becuase the browser is not supported. As we all know, unfortunatelly most Websites are written to suport Micro$hit Exploder.

The main issue here are SECURITY and COMPATIBILITY.

Thanks for your replies and so long bunch of maniax!!!!

Xenix

mozilla just about says it all. if that's not enough, use phoenix and galeon as well.

and get off that microsoft trip, xinix.

try lynx with ssl!

I am sure there are no kiddies out there that can fsck with that, and if you can't read it It's not worth seeing.

Don't forget a malformed URL with only give up the OS if the browser is tied into it.

yeah but the fact that you need to get the serial code sucks ass. also, the ads it displays are not really irritating at 1024 px or above.

to be honest the whole opera-is-nagware thing is the reason i switched to mozilla/phoenix. in my opinion opera was better than mozilla when i was using it, but about a year ago, mozilla really did overtake opera slowly but surely. maybe this is down to mozilla's superior development model. either way, i have never missed opera since ditching it (about half a year ago). basically since mozilla 1.x came out.

Those in the know use Moz.

I'd use Galeon when a stable gtk2 version comes out.

really? i have always found galeon to be 100% stable in red hat 8 and mandrake 9, but different strokes for different folks.
