Go behind the scenes with motion picture technologists and artists to discuss impact of Linux in movies.

Every major studio has converted to Linux or has conversion underway. Linux has become the most popular operating system for feature film production, ahead of SGI IRIX, Microsoft Windows, and Apple Macintosh. The largest Linux desktop installations in the world are at Dreamworks and Industrial Light and Magic (ILM).

Full day conference agenda on Tuesday, February 18, 2003 includes:

    * Linux Movies Overview - Robin Rowe
    * Dreamworks - Nathan Wilson
    * Flash Film Works - Dan Novy
    * Tippett - Alan Boucek
    * Rhythm & Hues - speaker TBD
    * ILM - Rod Bogart
    * Disney - John Burke
    * Film Gimp Panel - Thad Beier, Hammerhead; Caroline Dahll

Chaos, care to elaborate? I can't possibly imagine how the movie industry using Linux is a big danger to it.

No he means that the companies behind the MPAA and the RIAA using Linux is like them screwing us with our own tools. Anyway mainstream movies are shitty and all the same, so is the music.

Linux Format Issue 31 had a story of the use of Linux in Hollywood. It is quite interesting, you may be able to get it as a PDF from their website.
