Looks like GConf, the GNOME project's latest attempt to bring windows-like bloat to our favorite operating system, strikes again.
This time, it's from a fresh Slackware package of Galeon-1.2.7. Upon booting (as any user, including root), it gives me:
quote:
Cannot find a schema for galeon preferences. Check your gconf setup, look at galeon FAQ for more info
Now, there's a galeon.schemas file in /usr/etc/gconf/schemas that I chmodded to 755 but it still can't find it.

Update: I added a 'path' file like the galeon FAQ (http://galeon.sourceforge.net/support/answers.php?faq=gconf) asked me to, but it still won't work.
Here's my path file:
quote:
xml:readonly:/usr/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory
include "$(HOME)/.gconf.path"
xml:readwrite:$(HOME)/.gconf
xml:readonly:/usr/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults
Help would be greatly appreciated, this is driving me nuts.
